Senate Bill 09-080, “Concerning Limited Exemptions for Water Collected from Certain Residential Properties,” now protects Hanzel from facing fines of up to $500 a day for illegally collecting water from snow.
My friend is a landscaper in CO and told me about this one house he went to for a job in Denver. He said that the guy told him that he was collecting rainwater to use through the landscape and had him setup certain lines in areas, but he didn't have him hook the rainwater harvesting system to the irrigation stuff b/c he was worried about fines like this.

I can only imagine what else they'd hit you for if they found out you were harvesting rainwater illegally. Permits, fees, paperwork, and i bet they'd have you disconnect the whole thing. Atleast he won't need to worry as much
